Independent fund analyst Dan Hallett has struck a deal to sell his firm to Oakville, Ont.-based HighView Financial Group.

The acquisiton of all the shares of Windsor, Ont.-based Dan Hallett & Associates Inc. will close once Highview gets regulatory approval for the transaction.

No financial details were disclosed.

"We are thrilled to have Dan join the HighView team as his skills and reputation will lend tremendous support to HighView as we expand our mutual fund research, guided portfolios and separately managed account programs," Mark Barnicutt, president of HighView, said in statement on Tuesday.

Privately held HighView is a consulting firm that specialzies in asset management solutions for advisers, families and institutions. Its team includes John Platt, chief operating officer and a former mutual fund analyst at BMO Nesbitt Burns Inc.

Before the deal, Mr. Hallett said he worked with the HighView folks for over two and a half years in a consulting arrangement.

"After it [deal]closes, I will join HighView as an employee-shareholder and will continue doing much the same work I do today," Mr. Hallett said.
