Monday, Feb. 16

Family Day in Ontario, Toronto Stock Market is closed.

President's Day in the U.S., stock markets are closed.

Japan reports its real GDP for the fourth quarter, expected to be an increase of 0.1 per cent year over year, and industrial production for December, expected to show an increase of 0.3 per cent year over year.

The euro zone reports its December trade surplus, expected to be 19-billion euros.

EU area finance ministers hold a two-day meeting.

Tuesday, Feb. 17

(8:30 a.m. ET) The U.S. releases the Empire State manufacturing survey for February, and the consensus is 9, down from 10 in January.

(9 a.m. ET) Canada reports January existing home sales and average prices. Estimates are a 1 per cent increase and a 3 per cent increase year over year, respectively.  And MLS releases its January home price index. Estimates are for a 4.8 per cent year over year increase.

(10 a.m. ET) The U.S. releases the NAHB housing market index for February, and the consensus is 58, up from 57 last month.

The Bank of Japan holds its two-day monetary policy meeting.

EU area finance ministers hold a two-day meeting.

The U.K. reports its January consumer price index, expected to be an increase of 0.4 per cent year over year, and its producer price index for January, expected to show a decrease of 1.4 per cent.

Wednesday, Feb. 18

(8:30 a.m. ET) The U.S. reports its producer price index final demand for January. The consensus is an increase of 0.4 per cent year over year.

(8:30 a.m. ET) The U.S. reports housing starts for January, and the consensus is a 1.7-per-cent decline.

(8:30 a.m. ET)  The U.S. reports January building permits. The consensus is a 1.1-per-cent increase.

(8:30 a.m. ET) Canada releases its December wholesale trade report. Expected to show a 0.2-per-cent decline.

(9:15 a.m. ET) The U.S. reports industrial production and capacity utilization for January. The consensus is for a 0.4-per-cent increase for the former and a rate of 79.9 per cent for the latter.

(2 p.m. ET) FOMC minutes from the Jan. 27-28 meeting will be released.

The Bank of Japan holds its two-day monetary policy meeting.

The U.K. reports jobless claims for January, expected to show a decline of 25,000.

Minutes from the Bank of England's Feb. 4-5 monetary policy meeting will be released.

China's markets are closed from Feb.18-24 for the Lunar New Year.

Thursday, Feb. 19

(8:30 a.m. ET) The U.S. reports initial jobless claims for the week of Feb. 14. Estimates are for a decline of 14,000.

(10 a.m. ET) The February Philadelphia Fed Index will be released, the consensus is 9.0, up from 6.3 last month.

(10 a.m. ET) The U.S. reports is January leading indicator, and the consensus is an increase of 0.3 per cent.

(12:15 p.m. ET) Bank of Canada Deputy Governor Agathe Côté speaks on "Inflation Expectations and Monetary Policy" to the Association Québécois des Technologies in Mont Tremblant, Que.

The euro area reports February consumer confidence, expected to show -7.5.

Japn reports its January merchandise trade deficit, expected at 1.7-trillion yen. The Bank of Japan will also issue its monthly report.

(8:30 a.m. ET) Canada reports its December retail sales, and the consensus is for a decline of 0.4 per cent, and ex-autos a decline of 0.8 per cent.

(8:30 a.m. ET) The U.S. reports its consumer price index revisions.

(8:30 a.m. ET) Markit Flash releases its February manufacturing PMI.

Japan reports manufacturing PMI for February, expected to come in at 52.5, up from 52.2 last month.

The euro zone reports its February composite PMI, expected to be 53.0, up from 52.2 last month. it will also report February manufacturing and services PMI expected at 51.5 and 53.0 respectively.
