DAYS ON THE MARKET Five

LISTING AGENT Bill Thom, Re/Max Realtron Realty Inc.

The Action: Within five days, nearly a dozen buyers lined up private showings for this renovated, eco-friendly house before one visitor presented a strong offer.

What They Got: In the 1990s, this three-bedroom house received an eco-friendly makeover with hydronic radiant heated wood floors, extra insulation and argon gas thermo windows, as well as a self-contained, ground floor addition with a separate front entrance, vaulted living area, kitchen, bedroom and bathroom.

In the original two-storey section of the house, there is a sunken foyer, an open dining area and great room with a fireplace and walkout to a deck, as well as a modern kitchen with granite counters and island.

On the second floor, the three sleeping quarters all have cathedral ceilings and two have access to one of five bathrooms.

The basement contains a bedroom and a gym with above-grade windows, in addition to a rear entryway.

A shed, a secluded south-facing backyard and wide interlocking driveway to a carport rounds out the 50-foot by 118-foot grounds.

The Agent's Take: "Potentially, you could have three families there, it's very unique," says agent Bill Thom, who also praises the flexibility of the property's layout. "You can make an opening from the foyer of the main house and access this one-bedroom apartment and use it as a home-based office."

Buyers also appreciated its rare green features.

"It has a huge cistern in the basement that basically collects rain water and subsequently, you can use it for many other things like irrigation," says Mr. Thom. "It even has grass or turf on the rooftop, and that is good for cooling in the summer and insulation in the winter."
