For raps to Donkey Kong hacks to sending toy trains into space, these dads have wowed the World Wide Web with their heartwarming antics.
Jason Lee. The wedding photographer created a <a href="http://kristinandkayla.blogspot.ca/">blog </a> to document the lives of his daughters, Kristin and Kayla. Many photos show regular kid stuff: going to Disneyland, getting a puppy; learning to ski. But it’s Lee’s fantastical prints -- enhanced by Lee’s creativity, humor, playfulness and yes, a little Photoshop -- that garnered him over 22,000 Facebook likes and a ton of Internet <a href="http://churchm.ag/the-awesome-photography-of-jason-lee-sisters/">love </a>.Jason Lee
David Laferrier. The graphic designer and illustrator has been doodling on his sons’ sandwich bags since 2008, when Evan and Kenny were in second and fourth grade. Sam Dorman (aka Sam Deezy). The California rapper and his friend, DJ Dave, created a YouTube <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cvMvp7QbLUk">hit </a> with their clever rap on all the weird survival skills you pick up once you have kids. It’s full of lines like this: “Hit the play ground and everyone staring / As we roll up in the tricked out Maclaren / We’re bouncing all around with the ground squishy / And I’m a roll model going down the slide on my tushy.” Word.Sam Dorman
Ron Fugelseth. The Santa Cruz dad sent his son’s favorite train, Stanley, to space with a weather balloon, an HD camera, and an old cell phone for GPS. Col. Lt. Will Adams. What happens when you get a soldier dad returning from a year at war, a daughter throwing out the first pitch at an MLB game, and really good disguise? Grab a hanky and watch <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-of8wjOt4pM">this</a>.
Mike Mika. The California video-game designer <a href="http://www.theglobeandmail.com/life/the-hot-button/coolest-dad-ever-father-hacks-donkey-kong-to-give-daughter-a-female-character/article9598862/#dashboard/follows/">hacked </a> the classic Nintendo game Konkey Kong so his three-year-old daughter Ellis could play the game as the female character, Pauline. He posted his rational on Wired. Pretty awesome.
Nate’s dad. Earlier this year, Nate posted a letter on the Facebook page, FCKH8. After that, a dad’s touching love letter to his son went <a href="http://gawker.com/5990745/dad-overhears-sons-plans-to-come-out-assuages-his-fears-with-heartwarming-letter-of-acceptance">viral</a>. Here’s the full text: “Nate, I overheard your phone conversation with Mike last night about your plans to come out to me. The only thing I need you to plan is to bring home OJ and bread after class. We are out, like you now. I've known you were gay since you were six, I've loved you since you were born. -Dad. P.S. Your mom and I think you and Mike make a cute couple.”
Dale Price. This stay-at-home father of three always waves from his doorstep as his teenage son goes off to school in a bus. But unlike other parents, Dale dresses up in a different costume <a href="http://waveatthebus.blogspot.ca/p/about-price-family.html">every day</a>. He’s either the world’s most embarrassing dad, or the world’s most awesome dad. Probably both.
George Monroy. Caine’s Arcade is a short <a href="http://www.imagination.is/about">film</a> about a 9-year-old boy, Caine Monroy, who makes a cardboard arcade in his dad’s used auto parts store in East LA.
