Bigger windows, head-rest massages, espresso in the air and brag-worthy TV screens: Air Canada's new wide-body plane starts service this summer
The international business-class cabin features 20 lie-flat seat beds. Travellers may fly Air Canada's new plane on select domestic and transatlantic flights this summer as the 787 aircraft are introduced into the fleet.
Book the international business-class cabin and you’ll find headrests that give massages, an 18-inch entertainment screen, power and USB outlets in every seat and direct-aisle access with window views – and those windows, promises the airline, are the largest ones you’ll find on any aircraft.
Still not satisfied? Later this year Air Canada begins serving espresso and cappuccino to international business-class customers.
Travellers who book premium economy seats on the 787 Dreamliner get 38-inches of legroom and wider 19.5-inch seats with a 7-inch recline. Power/USB outlets also come with each seat.
Seatback screens in the Dreamliner’s premium economy cabin range from 9 to 11 inches. Ambient mood lighting and higher humidity levels (in all sections) are hoped to improve the passenger’s experience.
Stuck in economy? Nothing much changes here - USB and power outlets are “available at arm’s reach,” according to the airline.
The Dreamliner's first Air Canada route will be Toronto to Tokyo/Haneda, starting in July.Timothy McGuire
