Halifax Regional Police found no sign of a reported gunman and have cleared the scene at an industrial park in Dartmouth, N.S., according to Global News.

Police had evacuated several buildings after a report of a gunman in the area.

Halifax Regional Police Sgt. Jeff Carr says officers were called to a scrap yard in Burnside around 11:30 a.m. Saturday.

Carr says someone called and said they could see a male pacing back and forth on the roof of a building with what appeared to be a long gun.

He says when officers arrived, there was no man on the roof.

Carr says police evacuated a couple dozen people from three buildings and set up a perimeter.

He says there is a heavy police presence in the area and officers are investigating.
