A 14-year-old Ottawa girl has been identified as the victim of a fatal car crash on Sunday near Watertown, N.Y.
State police say Carine Rabay was travelling with family members on Interstate 81 at about 4 p.m. when their SUV went off the road.
The vehicle hit a guiderail and overturned near a steep embankment.
Carine – who wasn’t wearing a seatbelt – was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead on scene.
Her 44-year-old mother and nine-year-old sister were airlifted to hospital in serious condition but are expected to recover.
Carine’s 50-year-old father and 77-year-old grandmother were treated and released. The teenager was in Grade 8 at Frank Ryan School in Nepean.
