A Halifax man has been charged with first-degree murder in the case of a missing 22-year-old man who hadn't been seen since late Saturday night.

Police say 22-year-old William Michael Sandeson of Halifax was arrested Tuesday evening in suburban Dartmouth.

Taylor Samson was reported missing on Sunday evening and last seen at a home on South Street in Halifax at 10:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Police say the body of the 22-year-old man has not been recovered.

As part of their investigation, police say they searched an address on Henry Street in Halifax and they believe that is where Samson died.

Police say Samson and Sandeson knew one another.

Dalhousie University issued a statement saying Samson was a third-year physics student.

It says Sandeson is also a student at the university and both men lived off campus.
