The RCMP say an arrest has been made following reports that a lone gunman fired several rounds in the northern Alberta community of Clairmont.

The shot were reportedly fired Tuesday evening near a building owned by multinational oilfield services giant Haliburton.

RCMP secured the area around the site and later said via Twitter that "an individual has been apprehended" and that the situation in Clairmont had ended peacefully.

There were no reports of injuries in the oilfield community just north of Grande Prairie.

The RCMP did not release any information about the person taken into custody nor indicate what charges might be laid.
