Heritage Minister James Moore won't soon forget his appearance on Tout le monde en parle, the popular Sunday-night talk show on the CBC's French-language network.

The 32-year-old British Columbia MP started by seeking forgiveness for his command of French, which he needn't have done, given he had no problem understanding and answering every single question. If he keeps practicing every day, like he said he does, he will have no problem throwing his hat in a leadership race one day, if he so wishes. He likely impressed a number of Quebeckers with his pro-choice, pro-gay marriage stance.

What Mr. Moore needs to do, however, is brush up on the people he represents in cabinet for now, and that is Canadian artists.

With a few hints, Mr. Moore was asked to name famous Canadians. He could be forgiven for failing to identity legendary singer Félix Leclerc or anchorwoman Céline Galipeau (the Peter Mansbridge of Radio-Canada).

But quick - name a Canadian movie director of Armenian origin. The one who did The Sweet Hereafter. You know, he got Oscar nominations.

Stumped? So was Mr. Moore.
