A dispute over a phone turned violent at a north Etobicoke housing complex Wednesday afternoon, leaving a young man with a gun shot wound to the leg.
The man, in his late teens or early 20s, was shot behind a complex on the East Mall near Rathburn Road shortly after 1:30 p.m. He made his way inside and called police. The man's injuries are serious, but he is expected to live, said Toronto police Constable Tony Vella.
Officers found a gun at the scene.
Bystanders said the mobile that prompted the dispute was an iPhone, but police could not confirm this.
Investigators are trying to piece together what exactly led up to the shooting and who else was involved.
No one has been arrested.
