SIU investigating after man dies, police officer injured in altercation Add to ...

The Special Investigations Unit has been called in after an altercation left a man dead and a police officer injured in Toronto.

A man was shot around 8 p.m. in an apartment building near Dufferin Street and King Street West.

The police officer was slashed in the face and is in hospital with minor injuries.

The SIU is looking at surveillance video from the apartment building.

It is still unclear why police were called to the building.
