Toronto police and a victim's family are asking for the public's help in solving a deadly shooting that took place at a nightclub hosting an after-party for rapper Drake's music festival last year.

Detective Omar Khan says he knows there are more people out there with information on the shooting at the Muzik nightclub that killed 23-year-old Duvel Hibbert and 26-year-old Ariela Navarro-Fenoy on Aug. 4, 2015.

"As we approach the one year mark of this tragedy, I'm hoping that [people with information] have had time to reflect and will now come forward and tell police what they know," Det. Khan told reporters on Friday.

Police have spoken to hundreds of potential witnesses and collected a large amount of video evidence but no charges have been laid in the case.

"We have had a great deal of co-operation, it's just we need more," Det. Khan said. "We need more co-operation and assistance from the public to advance our investigation."

Investigators are still trying to identify the same two people of interest singled out in the aftermath of what police had described as a "brazen" shooting at the time.

Police believe Mr. Hibbert was the intended target of the shooting and that Ms. Navarro-Fenoy was an innocent bystander.

Her sister Aluen made a tearful plea on Friday for witnesses to step forward.

"Losing someone you love and care for to a senseless act of violence and murder is a horrifying nightmare … my family and I had to painfully endure the past year," she said.

"We need your help in bringing Ari's murderer to justice," she added.

The shooting took place during the official after-party for Toronto-born rapper Drake's annual OVO Fest music festival.

Three other people were injured during the incident, which began inside the nightclub, where thousands were partying, and spilled into the streets north of the venue.

The shooting touched off a wave of concern across the city and prompted Drake to offer condolences to the families of the victims.

"I am plagued and pained by the violence that continues to escalate in our city," Drake had said in a statement released 10 days after the shooting. "I stare into the eyes of so many young people and I wish to see them all shine as bright as they possibly can in this lifetime. I encourage my generation to show as much value and gratitude as you can for the lives we have been gifted."
