Nothing like the Costa Concordia’s salvage operation has ever been attempted before. Engineers, drillers, divers and welders will try to rotate the ship upright (know as “parbuckling”) and balanced by buoyancy tanks. That process will take all summer. If they're successful, the Costa Concordia will then be towed slowly to Sicily where it will take another two years to disassemble it.
