General Motors Co. will halt production at one of its Oshawa, Ont., plants for two weeks beginning Monday because of the impact on parts suppliers arising from the recent earthquake in Japan.

The auto maker's Flex plant in Oshawa, which assembles the Cadillac XTS, Buick Regal and Chevrolet Impala is one of four plants that is expected to stop making vehicles for two weeks.

The other plants are in Lordstown, Ohio; Spring Hill, Tenn.; and Fairfax, Kan.

GM said the shutdowns come as it assesses the impact on its supply chain.

Toyota Motor Corp. and Honda Motor Co. Ltd. shut some of their Japanese plants after the earthquake hit last week.
