Brookfield Renewable Energy Partners LP agreed to buy a 488-megawatt renewable energy portfolio in Brazil from Energisa S.A. for 1.4 billion reias ($545-million).

The acquisition will be funded through available capital from Brookfield Renewable and its institutional partners, the Hamilton, Bermuda-based company said in a statement today. The transaction is subject to regulatory approvals and is expected to close in the first quarter of 2015.

The deal includes 163 megawatts of hydro power, 150 megawatts of wind and 175 megawatts of biomass.
