Financial and technology consultancy Capco has hired a new partner in its Canadian capital markets division.

Simon Greig, the new hire, is a familiar face to many of the firm's employees. Until 2010 he worked for Capco but then departed to run Sapient Global Markets' global derivatives technology practice.

Though Capco isn't a household name, the firm is entrenched in many high-profile projects run by Canada's financial institutions. Behind the scenes, the company consults on such things as trading systems and clearing operations.

Capco's expertise lies in things like collateral management and central counterparty clearing. The latter was a major issue last year after the Bank of Canada allowed Canadian banks to clear their derivative trades in other countries, rather than requiring them to build their own costly clearing systems at home.
