Royal Bank of Canada's capital markets arm continues to hire across the Atlantic, with the latest addition coming in France.

Eric Meyer is joining RBC as a managing director and head of investment banking in France. A 30-year capital markets veteran, he previously worked at Société Générale SA since 2005, where he covered French corporations and financial sponsors, among other clients such as China's Fosun International Ltd.

The hire comes as RBC continues to push hard in Europe, determined to add bulk. A source familiar with the bank's strategy confirmed three more hires will also soon start in London. Nick Taylor, who was previously co-head of natural resources at Deutsche Bank in Asia, joins as European natural resources head; Roland Nicklaus, the former head of media at HSBC, joins to run communications, media and entertainment coverage; and Rosie Bailey, who was previously with Morgan Stanley, joins lead retail investment banking.

These moves come after the bank started ramping up in Europe last year, hiring metals and mining specialists in London; a telecom research team from Barclays PLC; a base metals trader from Deutsche Bank; and a derivatives trader and a rates specialist from Lloyds.
