New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez (13) hits a single during the third inning against the Toronto Blue Jays at Florida Auto Exchange Park.Kim Klement

Alex Rodriguez drew a mix of cheers and boos in his first road game this spring, and a New York Yankees split squad lost to the Toronto Blue Jays 1-0 Saturday.

Rodriguez, coming back from season-long drug suspension, started at third base. The sellout crowd of 5,510 perked up when he walked to the batter's box in the second inning, and he struck out on three pitches.

The three-time AL MVP lined a 93 mph fastball from starter Daniel Norris off the right-field wall for a single the next time up. He later flied out and finished 1 for 3.

Caleb Gindl singled home Steve Tolleson in the sixth.
