Andrew Bogut won't play basketball in Australia during the NBA lockout due to complications involved in securing insurance, agent David Bauman told ESPN.com.

"He's very disappointed because he was hoping to help the profile of the NBL and bring in new fans," Bauman told ESPN.com. "But the risks for his outstanding money were too great."

Insuring the nearly $40-million left on Bogut's contract with the Milwaukee Bucks proved impossible to overcome, Bauman said.

The Kings had hoped to have Bogut available to face the Melbourne Tigers, who secured Portland Trail Blazers guard Patty Mills during the lockout.

Bogut averaged 11.1 rebounds, 2.6 blocks and 12.8 points a game in 65 appearances last season.

The Adelaide 36ers and the Gold Coast Blaze also courted the native Australian, but any deal needed to include an out clause to ensure that Bogut could return to the Bucks if the lockout ended.
