The L.A. Clippers are negotiating a deal with the league-owned New Orleans Hornets for NBA All-Star point guard Chris Paul, sports broadcaster ESPN is reporting.

The potential deal would also include the Minnesota Timberwolves first-round draft pick in 2012.

But negotiations could collapse if the Hornets don't get L.A. point guard Eric Bledsoe, a key component in the deal.

The proposed trade would also see point guard Eric Gordon, centre Chris Kaman and forward Al-Forouq Aminu leave L.A.

New Orleans have been looking for a way to unload their prized backcourt wizard who will become a free agent in July 2012.
