Andrew Parr

Canadians Derek Gillespie and Andrew Parr have failed to advance to the final stage of European Tour Q-School.

Gillespie from Oshawa, Ont., carded a final round 74 at the Campo de Golf El Saler in Valencia, Spain on Saturday. That left him tied for 45th, nine strokes off the cut line needed to advance to the third and final stage later this month.

Parr of London, Ont., shot a final round 67 at the Las Colinas Golf and Country Club in Alicante, Spain, which left him tied for 49th. He was seven shots off the cut line as an opening round 80 ultimately proved too big a hole to climb out of the rest of the week.

Parr made it all the way to the final stage a year ago where he just missed earning his European Tour card. He played 23 events split between the European Tour and the developmental Challenge Tour this year with his best result being a tie for sixth at the Sicilian Open.

The last Canadian to play full time on the European Tour was Scott Rowe back in 1999.
