Most NHL teams will round the corner and make the turn for the final quarter of the season this week.
And the top-ranked Vancouver Canucks continue to hunt hardware and dominate the league's individual statistical categories.
Daniel Sedin enters this week as the league's leading scorer with 77 points, and is trying to follow in his brother's footsteps by winning the Art Ross and Hart trophies. He's two points up on Steven Stamkos of the Tampa Bay Lightning, and five points ahead of brother Henrik, who sits third.
Henrik Sedin's 58 assists lead the league by nine, whereas injured Canucks defenceman Kevin Bieksa is the top plus-minus player in the loop (plus-26).
Second-line centre Ryan Kesler is chasing Stamkos for the Rocket Richard Trophy as the league's top goal-scorer, but he's seven goals back in second place. Daniel Sedin is third, eight goals behind Stamkos. Kesler is second to Bieksa in plus/minus (plus-25), tied with Anaheim defenceman Toni Lydman.
Of course, none of this means anything if the Canucks bow in the second-round of the playoffs again this year. But it does speak to their spectacular season to date, and so does their goal differential (plus-60), which is twice as good as the second-place Detroit Red Wings (plus-30), and 13 better than the next-best Philadelphia Flyers (plus-47).
