Agent J.P. Barry said that Daniel and Henrik Sedin are still considering an 11th-hour, five-year offer from the Vancouver Canucks. The Sedins can become unrestricted free agents on Wednesday at noon EDT.
Canucks GM Mike Gillis and chief lieutenant Laurence Gilman are en route back from Stockholm, where they personally delivered a final offer believed to be worth as much as $6-million (all currency U.S.) per season. Previously, the Canucks had offered $5.5-million per year.
Barry, who remained in Sweden after the summit meeting with Canucks brass, also denied that his clients had already rejected Vancouver's latest offer. A Tuesday report on expressen.se, a Swedish website, seemed to get lost in translation, and led to speculation in North America that the twins were destined for free agency after last-ditch efforts failed.
