New York Red Bulls striker Thierry Henry was named the MLS player of the week on Monday.

Henry had three goals and an assist in New York's 5-2 home victory over the expansion Montreal Impact to earn the honour for the second straight week.

The hat trick gives Henry five goals on the season. His assist Saturday was his third this year, boosting him into second place among the league's assists leaders.

Henry is only the third player born outside the United States and Canada to be named player of the week in back-to-back weeks. He joins Andy Herron (Costa Rica) in 2004 and Jeff Cunningham (Jamaica) in 2006.
