It's practically an international holiday for some folks, Apple's annual rite when a bunch of kids who work at a "Genius Bar" for a little better than minimum wage hand the slavering "early adopters" the very first new Phones available for retail sale. This year there are two new devices, and many of the folks who lined up for hours and days on end seemed unclear of what they wanted, and so bought both the iPhone 6 and its heavyweight companion the 6 Plus.

(Reuters reports "analysts are expecting sales of around 9 million iPhone 6s in its launch weekend, and Apple logged a record 4 million first-day pre-orders, double the number for the iPhone 5 two years ago.")
