Band of Robbers.

Tired Moonlight

Big skies and small lives are examined in poetic and rough-edged ways in an unusual art-house special from Britni West, a screenwriter and director who uses first-time actors and a loose script in her portrait of small-town Montana. Something for the Beasts of the Southern Wild enthusiasts to relax with. (Jan. 16, 8 p.m.; The Royal)

Band of Robbers

Mark Twain does not live, but his iconic literary characters do in an offbeat crime-caper comedy that reimagines Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn as modern-day, grown-up rascals. A treasure is involved, as is (in a supporting role) comedian Hannibal Buress. (14A; Carlton)
