Flamboyant film producer Harvey Weinstein used the premiere of the political satire Butter as a mocking invitation to lubricate relations between the left and right in America. Weinstein, whose company is distributing the film, issued an call to Michele Bachmann, the Minnesota congresswoman and Republican presidential candidate, to co-host the Iowa premiere of Butter, which stars Jennifer Garner stars as an ambitious, Bachmann-like competitive butter sculptor.

Weinstein, a prominent supporter of the Democrats, could not attend the premiere, but Olivia Wilde read his statement before the screening on Tuesday. In addition to his invite to Bachmann, Weinstein's statement said he'd be happy to fly leading members of the Tea Party movement to Iowa for the movie's premiere "to make an entire day of it. We could take some math classes in the morning to help balance the budget, brush up on the Constitution in the afternoon, play some ping-pong and then maybe some verbal ping-pong on gay rights and women's rights, especially the right to choose. But at night we can all go hand-in-hand to the premiere of Butter, a fun and important film where we'll share some popcorn and laughs. These are the kind of bipartisan effort that makes America great."
