Canadian supermodel Coco Rocha took to Tumblr to voice her disappointment with the airbrushing of her image on a magazine cover, which she alleges was done against her wishes.
In the opening to the online post, Rocha writes that as a high-fashion model, she has long had a policy of no nudity or partial nudity in her photo shoots.
For a recent cover shoot for Elle Brazil, Rocha writes that she believes an image was Photoshopped to give the impression of her showing much more skin than she was – or is – comfortable with exposing.
"This was specifically against my expressed verbal and written direction to the entire team that they not do so," she writes. "I'm extremely disappointed that my wishes and contract was ignored.
"I strongly believe every model has a right to set rules for how she is portrayed and for me these rules were clearly circumvented."
Rocha, who was raised in Richmond, B.C., has been an outspoken voice within the fashion industry. She was one of the first to speak frankly about eating disorders in the trade, and sits on the advisory board for the Model Alliance, an organization dedicated to improving the working conditions of models and persuading the industry to take better care of its young.
