The Soak outdoor tub by Ox + Monkey.

Inspired by designer Kez Sherwood's "love of water and fire and constant desire for a hot bath," Ox + Monkey's new Soak outdoor tub brings all the amenities together – in a gorgeous open-air setting. The tub is fabricated and welded by Jeremy Clement in the pair's workshop in southwestern British Columbia and takes its inspiration from Japanese ofuros, sharply angled, extra-deep tubs traditionally clad in wood and geared toward relaxation, not cleansing. Amply sized for bathing à deux ("It has become a ritual for us," Sherwood says) the Soak tub is made of marine-grade aluminum with a side-accessed stove fuelled by wood or propane, with a stainless steel stovepipe. An inner framework in locally harvested red cedar withstands the elements, while a drain on the side allows water to be reused in gardens. $5,600 at oxandmonkey.ca
