Ever see a piece of art at a gallery and think, "My four-year-old could do better"?
Well, how would your child's art stack up against Aelita Andre's?
Aelita, age four, has opened her first art exhibition in New York, according to the BBC. Her nine paintings on exhibit at Manhattan's Agora Gallery are already selling at prices up to $9,900 (U.S.) each.
Gallery director Angela Di Bello told the BBC the pint-sized artist has already developed a style of her own.
The child's parents, Nikka Kalashnikova and Michael Andre, both artists, told the broadcaster her art has an innocence to it.
Sure, any parent will think her own child's artwork is genius. But Aelita isn't the only youngster who has made big impressions in the art world.
At the age of four, Marla Olmstead of Binghamton, NY, drew comparisons with Jackson Pollack and Wassily Kandinsky, the BBC reported in 2004 . She sold about 25 of her paintings for $40,000.
Then, there was Britain's Kieron Williamson, who at the age of seven, sold out an exhibition of his paintings of landscapes and town scenes, netting 150,000 pounds, or around $240,000 Canadian, in the first half hour of opening.
