It's tough trying to keep your birthday on the down low when you're one of the most talked about women in the world. Nevertheless, Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, who turns 30 today, is celebrating her milestone birthday quietly, according to news reports.

Details about her birthday plans have so far been kept under wraps, although officials at St. James's Palace have rejected rumours that the duchess's younger sister Pippa Middleton and Prince Harry were intending to throw a huge bash.

"Whatever is planned will be low-key and private," St. James's Palace told Agence France-Press.

Indeed, even the official British monarchy website appears to make no mention of her birthday.

Agence France-Press says it is believed the duchess will be spending the day with her husband Prince William and close family and friends.

According to the Associated Press, a low-key birthday seems appropriate for a woman who is beginning her career as a future queen. After her wedding last year, she has been expected to quietly ease into her royal role.

But even if she isn't marking her actual birthday in grand style, at least the duchess got a chance to step out the evening prior. She and Prince William appeared on Sunday night at the London premiere of director Stephen Spielberg's latest film War Horse. No doubt, she'll have plenty of other parties to attend this year.
