Christine Corbeil had always been too embarrassed to seek help for her hearing challenges

Due to the stigma associated with wearing a hearing aid, Christine Corbeil, a 35-year-old mother of two from Listowel, Ontario, had always been too embarrassed to seek help for her hearing challenges. This changed when she was nominated to receive a free hearing aid as part of the National Campaign for Better Hearing.

Now, Corbeil is excited to be able to have normal conversations and listen to her children and she also wants to encourage others experiencing hearing loss to make an appointment.

The goal of the National Campaign for Better Hearing is to raise awareness and provide free baseline-hearing tests for Canadians aged 60 and over. In addition, more than 200 participating clinics donate $4 for every hearing test they conduct with the aim of raising over $250,000 for hearing aids this year. If they reach their goal, this will represent over 60,000 hearing tests.
