Baby making is evidently good for business. Shares of Asian companies making everything from diapers to baby formula got a boost Friday, one day after China announced the end of its one-child policy. China Child Care Corp., which makes hygiene products for children, climbed 40 per cent on the day. Infant formula makers Beingmate Baby & Child Food Co. Ltd. and Yashili International Holdings Ltd. rose 10 per cent and 6.25 per cent, respectively. Pigeon Corp., which makes baby bottles, jumped 10.7 per cent.
