What filmmaker Daniel O’Connor is watching and listening to

Why is Daniel O'Connor's soulful new comedy feature called Look Again? "Because I hope that when people leave the theatre and sidestep the homeless person on the sidewalk that they become aware of their thoughts and judgments," the Toronto-based filmmaker says. "And that they look again." Audiences can get their first look at Look Again this weekend at Toronto's Kingsway Theatre (June 24 to 30).

What he's watching: "Just came off the British crime drama Happy Valley and am now deep into Season Three of Showtime's Ray Donovan. It's such a great family drama with so many deep emotional moments that I can't get enough of it. Plus, watching Jon Voight play such a creepy, complex character is a thrill."

What he's listening to: "July Talk's self-titled album from 2013. Heard them in the car and SoundHounded them. I thought I was listening to Shane MacGowan or Tom Waits. I love their rich, earthy sound and that they're from Toronto. Can't wait to catch them live." (July Talk plays the Kee to Bala, July 2.)

What he's tuned into: "This one's hard because I listen to a lot of podcasts. Hands-down favourite has to be The Moth – real stories told live by real people. As a filmmaker, I have a passionate love affair with stories in all forms and these tales are often moving and inspiring and always captivating."
