On a whirlwind tour to promote her confessional new book, Finding Sarah: A Duchess's Journey to Find Herself, the 51-year-old mother talks up her new TV show on Oprah's OWN, the challenges of penning a tell-all that shows all her warts, and watching with the rest of the world a new generation of married royals – Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge – who are now in Canada on their first official trip abroad as husband and wife.

Q: Right after you and Andrew were married, you, too, came to this country as a blushing bride. What advice would you give Will and Kate as they embark on a life in the public eye?

It would be very wrong of me to give any advice because they're such lovely people, and a great couple, and doing so brilliantly themselves. So I'll leave that to them. They're so special and young, and it's a whole new world now. It's a new chapter. It's just different generations who do things their own way. I'm so very proud in every way. I know how special it is to come to Canada, and to be so in love.
