Imax expands partnership with AMC

Imax Corp. has expanded its revenue-sharing agreement with AMC Entertainment Inc., resulting in the addition of between eight and 18 Imax theatres in the United States.

AMC is the technology company's largest exhibitor partner, which 125 of its Imax big-screen theatre systems in operation currently.

The new commitments that will bring the total to at least 138 Imax theatres in the AMC chain, with a potential for up to 148.

Financial terms of the agreement with Imax weren't disclosed in Monday's announcement.

The eight confirmed locations under the new deal are expected to be in the states of North Carolina, New Jersey, Michigan, Illinois and California.
