(830 a.m. ET) Canada releases manufacturing sales and new orders for July. Sales are forecast to rise 1.0 per cent.

(830 a.m. ET) U.S. releases producer price index for August.

(1230 p.m. ET) Bank of Canada Governor Stephen Poloz to speak in Drummondville, Quebec, on "The role of a floating exchange rate in the Canadian economy and in the Bank's policy framework." He holds a news conference at 145 pm. (ET).

FOMC meeting begins.

Wednesday Sept. 17

Euro zone releases August inflation numbers.

(830 a.m. ET) U.S. reveals current account deficit for the second quarter, with the consensus expecting a deficit of $113.3-billion.

(830 a.m. ET) U.S. consumer price index for August. Consensus is for an increase of 1.9 per cent from a year earlier.

(10 a.m. ET) U.S. releases the National Association of Homebuilders index for September, forecast at 57.

(2 p.m. ET) FOMC announcement on interest rates and summary of economic projections. Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen will hold a quarterly press briefing at 230 p.m. (ET).
