Start by priming the eyelid to ensure that the shadow doesn't stray. Apply a neutral, base colour that is going to act as a good blending colour for the darker, smokier shades, from the lid to the brow bone.

Line the upper and lower lids of the eye with a pencil liner. Do not worry about making perfect straight lines, as this will be blended and smudged with shadows.

Apply a medium to dark shade of shadow from the lash line to the crease, all over the lid of the eye, but not above the crease of the eye. Apply the darkest shade of shadow across the lash line and half way up the eye lid.

Blend all the shades together, lightly and carefully, to not venture to far above the crease.

Last, finish with 2-3 coats of mascara to help the lashes stand out.
