SpierHead is located in Kelowna but sources its pinot gris fruit further south in Summerland, from a vineyard called Golden Retreat. And a golden treat this is. Produced with no oak contact, it's medium-bodied yet displays substantial mouth feel as it dishes up green-apple and pear-like fruit lifted by an almost effervescent, vibrant character that settles into a fine-chalk texture, creating a mineral-like sensation and it moves into the long finish. Available at private B.C. wine stores and direct from the estate, Spierheadwinery.com.
