He was thinking he would bring his mother along on his honeymoon, that's what. So that's what he did, and now his 36-year-old wife has filed for divorce, according to the ANSA news agency.

The woman, identified in court documents as Marianna C., arrived at Rome's Fiumicino airport expecting to fly off to Paris for her honeymoon only to discover her husband had brought along his mother. Even though she "politely" tried to object, her husband said he "couldn't leave his sick mother alone," according to court documents.

What was the nail in the coffin? According to ANSA, after the honeymoon, the mother-in-law also spent the Christmas holidays with the couple – which pushed Marianna over the edge.

Her husband's "excessive ties" to his mother "made it impossible to establish a healthy conjugal relationship," Marianna said in court documents.
