Drumheller may be Alberta's dinosaur capital, but for a few weeks, Edmonton is giving it a run for its Mesozoic money.
Dinosaurs Unearthed, which opened May 15 at the Telus World of Science, features 17 animatronic dinosaurs that roar and move – perhaps not the thing for purists, but the kids will love it. And if you want to get all scientific about it, the life-sized dinos were designed by paleo-artists using data from paleontologists to accurately show how scientists believe the dinosaurs looked, sounded and moved, according to the bumf.
The 10,000-square-foot exhibition also includes fossil and skeleton specimens (including spinosaurus and mosasaur teeth and an oviraptor egg) – and reflects growing evidence about feathered dinosaurs. One highlight is a feathered Tyrannosaurus rex juvenile that will jump to life in front of visitors.
