After three years producing animation for the studio behind such hits as Toy Story and Finding Nemo, Pixar Canada has closed its Vancouver operation and eliminated about 100 jobs, according to media reports.

News of the shutdown of the Pixar branch plant in Gastown came Tuesday, ending its role producing shorts under the Pixar label.

"A decision was made to refocus operations and resources under one roof. Staff were just told today. Not great news, obviously," spokesperson Barb Matheson told The Province newspaper.
