Bodies of two pilots found after cargo plane crash north of Vancouver

Search-and-rescue crews found the bodies of two pilots Tuesday who were aboard a cargo plane that crashed in the mountains north of Vancouver.

The Carson Air cargo plane departed Monday morning from Vancouver on a flight to Prince George, B.C., but it lost contact shortly after 7 a.m., officials said.

Ground crews found debris later in the day but couldn't immediately confirm it was from the missing aircraft.

Navy Lt. Paul Trenholm said crews found one of the pilots Tuesday morning and the second in the early afternoon in an area northeast of Grouse Mountain.

He said ground crews first found a portion of the wing. They later locating the main fuselage, the tail and then the front of the aircraft.

Coroner Barb McLintock said two coroners were on their way to the crash site, which is heavily forested and difficult to access.
