A 32-year-old man is facing a fine after a toddler in a car seat fell out of a car onto an on-ramp in Toronto, radio station Newstalk 1010 is reporting.

Police say four children were in the car as the man drove onto the Lawrence Avenue on-ramp to the Don Valley Parkway around 6 p.m. Tuesday.

They say that's when a two-year-old girl in a car seat somehow opened a door of the vehicle and fell out.

The man, who police haven't identified, is charged under the Highway Traffic Act with failing to ensure the child was properly secured, which comes with a $240 fine.

Police say the three other children in the car at the time of the incident were properly secured.
