The city says its hands are tied when it comes to fixing the three Toronto roads named last year among the province's worst.
Launching this year's worst-roads campaign, the Municipal Roads Coalition, led by the Ontario Road Builders Association and the Canadian Automobile Association, said the city had done nothing to improve Steeles Avenue West, Dufferin Street and St. Clair Avenue West. Manager of transportation services Joe Condarcuri said the city and York Region are discussing how to pay for work on Steeles. On Dufferin, the city and CN Rail must first eliminate the jog at Queen. And on St. Clair, road work has been delayed by a fight over dedicated streetcar lanes.
