Most gas stations in British Columbia are complying with Grant's Law, the new provincial regulation requiring pre-payment for gas, inspections by WorkSafe BC have found. Spokesman Scott McCloy says the agency has conducted 163 inspections since the new regulation came into effect in February and issued five orders. "That's 97 per cent compliance," he said.

The new regulation was enacted after gas station attendant Grant De Patie was killed while trying to stop someone who was speeding away from the station without paying for the gas.

He died after being dragged for several kilometres by the car.
