Ontario teacher acquitted of attempted murder charges in Jamaica is back home

A Toronto-area man acquitted of charges after being accused of trying to kill his wife in Jamaica has returned home.

Paul Martin was accused of cutting his wife's throat and leaving her at the side of the road, just before Christmas last year.

Mr. Martin's lawyers argued his wife had been the aggressor and was cut in the struggle.

He had been charged with attempted murder, but was found not guilty of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

Now that he's home in Ajax, Ont., Mr. Martin says he'll be fighting for custody of his young children and would like to return to teaching.

Mr. Martin had taught Grade 5 at Saint Francis de Sales Catholic School.
