If you don't see any vampires lurking around Regina this summer, you can probably thank the Poo Crew.

The company, which specializes in animal litter services, says it's turning to garlic to try and thwart a record invasion of bloodsucking mosquitoes that has resulted from recent heavy rains.

Poo Crew owner Daniel Diment says he's partnered with a lawn-care company called Just Lawns to spray a 90 per cent garlic, non-chemical formula on properties.

Diment contends it repels mosquitoes without a harsh, stinky chemical smell.

Diment says the stench of garlic is much worse to mosquitoes and ticks than to humans.

He allows people's lawns might smell a bit like garlic for a few days, but says that does away after a while.
