A strike by 350 employees of the Art Gallery of Ontario seeking more job stability has been averted – for now.
AGO management and the Ontario Public Service Employees Union have reached a tentative agreement, which the union will vote to ratify on Wednesday, OPSEU spokeswoman Heather Corner said Friday morning by e-mail.
OPSEU representatives were at the table "to fight off the employer demands for more part-time, unstable work and the pervasive use of outside companies to do AGO employees' jobs," the union said in a statement released earlier in the week.

A picket was held outside the gallery on Thursday evening leading up to the strike deadline of 12:01 a.m. on Friday.
Food and beverage staff, curators, lighting technicians, and maintenance workers are among the members of OPSEU Local 535.
The AGO has close to 600 total employees.
